Lamb gets debut win in High A
John Lamb got his first Carolina League win tonight, May 21, 2010, against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, High A team for the Atlanta Braves organization. Lamb is now officially the youngest player in the league with the Friday night start, since he is still only 19 until July.
His catcher, Salvador Perez, had that label until Lamb was to toe the slab in front of more than six thousand fans as the Wilmington Blue Rocks started a six game home stand.
Lamb faced a total of 24 Pelican batters in his six innings of work. He had a season high 9 strike outs mixed in with 4 hits, 2 walks and allowing only 1 earned run as he made his first impression on the Wilmington, DE fans. The Wilmington Blue Rocks are the High Class A team of the Kansas City Royals organization.
Productive offense and a solid 3 inning performance from the Blue Rocks bull-pen secured the 4-1 win before the sky was filled with the fireworks show.
A special night for John Lamb on the field as he also got to show off to his girl-friend for the first time since this past Spring training in Surprise, AZ while she is on vacation from college.
We are all very proud of you from the left coast here in Southern California.
GO BLUE ROCKS!
