Lamb given the “Pitcher of Week” award
It is always nice to see your son get acknowledged for his professional baseball performance. There are many ways to reward a player for their efforts and the “Pitcher/Player of the Week” award is just one of them. A call-up, all-star teams and media coverage are all great, but the “POW” has always been a special award within the game during a minor league career.
Congratulations son…we are all very happy for you and we will continue to support you from the West coast. We are all looking forward to your next scheduled start tomorrow against the Frederick Keys, Advanced Class A team of the Baltimore Orioles organization.
One of the surreal notes worth mentioning is the fact that Khristopher Davis received his “POW” from the Midwest League the same week as John Lamb from the Carolina League. Rodney Davis, Khris’ Dad, has been a long time friend since our days in youth ball and he is the one of the key reasons for my current involvement in Major League Baseball, as a scout. I quickly sent a congrats message to my dear friend after announcement of this week’s awards. Rodney, I am sure is just as proud as myself for this special weekly award, presented throughout minor league baseball.
It must be noted that back in June of 2008, Rodney offered the first sign, thru a text message, that my son had been drafted on the first day by the Kansas City Royals. His message simply read “congrats.”
Again, congratulations to both John and Khris for their awards that will be forever attached to their statistical accomplishments in minor league baseball. Keep working hard guys and I hope to see both of you in “The Show.”
