Few more smiles around the house
Orange County, CA – Just another day around the Lamb household, but with a few more smiles than normal. Went to my acupuncture treatment this morning and she did a great job with some new pain in my left shoulder…no not from throwing a baseball. I use the right hand to throw, so when John Lamb favored the left I was obviously pretty happy with the idea.
It was not my plan to start off my birthday with about 40 needles stuck around my spine and legs, but it was the only opening in her availability. However, she did manage to reduce the shoulder pain that I woke up with. I wish she could help with the lower back pain and all the residual effects from my injury, but I really don’t think a few treatments with a bunch of needles are going to help resolve the real issues involved.
A phone call home from the 20 year-old Northwest Arkansas Naturals lefty was another good reason to smile. Sure he wished me a “Happy Birthday,” but we also talked a little about his next start at home on Friday night. I am looking forward to his return on the mound after the debut in Springfield, MO this past Saturday. He indicated he feels good and he too is eager to throw in front of the team’s home, Texas League, crowd.
The wife is making one my favorite meals tonight, lasagna. The same one that helped her sweep me off my feet back in 1994 when I was still motoring all over the country as an owner, and operator, in the world of nationwide trucking. John can attest to how good Colleen can cook. It definitely contributed to his stature and baseball build and despite the fact he won’t be capable of breaking bread with us tonight, we are happy to know he is living a childhood dream of playing professional baseball. Not a day goes by, since signing his contract with the Kansas City Royals out of high school, I don’t smile with gratitude and pride for his accomplishments.
Although, I feel older than my age, at times, I am truly blessed to have a fantastic wife, two great kids, thoughtful friends and a continued opportunity to be around the game of baseball, so nothing but smiles around the Lamb house today.

Hope you had a great Birthday! I’ve been out camping in the NM mountains with my boys for a few days, so just catching up with your blog, this weekend and your comments remind me how great it is to be a dad. John is doing well and as a Royals fan, I’m excited to see that talent in AA.
Ron,
Thanks for the visit and well wishes. Nothing beats being a “dad” and getting to spend some time with the kids. Really looking forward to getting out to see John real soon, I hope.
Great website and articles…
I will pass your site onto my family, friends and patients…
