Changes to the Arvest Ballpark debut for Lamb
Springdale, AR – The day for John Lamb to debut in the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Arvest Ballpark has been changed to Sunday evening, rather than the originally scheduled start tonight against the Arkansas Travelers. Not going to speculate the reason for the change of plans and I hope to get an explanation the next time I talk to John over the phone. No news is always good news for most parents, and I have always fallen into that group with regard to my son during his career path.
Despite having some scout related conflicts, to hear tonight’s originally slated start for John, due to the Area Code games in Long Beach, CA at Blair Field, I am simply itching with anticipation for his Arvest Ballpark debut in front of the home field fans. John has managed to receive a big following during this year’s season scattered through three different levels of the Royals organization.
Yesterday, during my Florida Marlins scouting responsibility I was confronted by many colleagues that had positive things to say about John’s early stages of his minor league career. It really is heartfelt to know that so many people are watching him develop, as he chases his dreams.
Last time we talked he indicated good things about his new experiences with the Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. However, there were some comments about the club’s concern with the number of innings John has piled up during the season. He sounded extremely upbeat with the new coaching staff and teammates to close his second season efforts of professional baseball. He also indicated that he was working hard between starts to improve the consistency of his breaking ball. So for now we will need to just wait for his 23rd start of the season when he attempts to help the Naturals win and stay on top of the Texas League standings.

With the article about Greinke’s displeasure with the Royals, would/could that effect John’s outlook? I really hope not. I’m a huge fan of what John has been doing. a
Although I understand were Greinke is coming from, I don’t think he sees the whole picture. Yes there has been several attempts of rebuilding, but I really believe that Dayton is doing it right. I just get nervous that those in the minor leagues catch wind of the article and start to question the organization themselves.
Jeff,
Thanks for the visit and comments. I doubt seriously that the comments made from above him will have any changes with John’s focus and desire to work his way up the ladder. Our family remains extremely happy with the Royals organization, their continued efforts to place quality in the farm system and the fact that they have given John the opportunity to be a part of the plan. Sometimes professional baseball decisions can be a challenge to digest for the staff, player, family and fan. However, the Lamb family remains grateful to be a part of the Kansas City Royals baseball family and we continue looking forward to their bright future!
