Shocking early morning text message from Lamb
Frisco, TX – John Lamb sent an early morning text message to my phone today. This is not a usual form of communication by the 20 year-old on the day of his scheduled starts in professional baseball.
Don’t take this wrong, but John has dealt with the experiences of being away from home for well over 5 years now. His silence on “pitching” starts away from home started with his experiences in the Midland Redskins program, while he played for the age proper Braves at the Mickey Mantle level, when he was 15 and 16 years-old. He learned how to compete and survive without his “Dad” sitting in the dugout or in the stands. This development was difficult, at times, to digest for those people whom have grown fond of John, but I simply accept the silence as a form of growth.
The zone that players get in can offend some people associated with the game of baseball, or sports in general. Our household has become well acquainted with John’s silence surrounding his professional baseball starts. Again when proper, the important calls or texts continue to arrive and put smiles on our faces!
This morning’s text was shocking based on the timing alone, since he is set to add some more innings on his resume tonight in Frisco, TX at 7:00 CT. Everything is fine and we are eager to hear the broadcast on ESPN, 92.1 The Ticket when the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, try to complete the series sweep.
GO NATURALS!
